Its specimens are relatively well preserved, which is of great significance for people to study the evolution of stegosaurian dinosaurs. Qichuan comes from the<em> Tuojiangosaurus<\/em> family. The size of its head alone exceeded 1 meter long. Its body was robust and could attack powerfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1610\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2.jpg 1000w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Head of Qichuan the<\/strong> <em><strong>Tuojiangosaurus<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head of <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em> was relatively elongated, which was different from other stegosaurians found in the same region, such as <em>Huayangosaurus<\/em>. There were large and small plates atop its head, similar to ankylosaurs. These characteristics are clearly shown in our restoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Mouth of Qichuan the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, people thought that stegosaurians had a relatively small mouth and large cheeks, but recent studies suggest that they might have no cheeks, but their mouths were large. We adopted this rather late theory when restoring the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1322\" height=\"881\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1611\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2.png 1322w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2-300x200.png 300w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2-1024x682.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2-768x512.png 768w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/\u7b2c5\u9875-2-360x240.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1322px) 100vw, 1322px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Bony Plates of Qichuan the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bony plates of <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em> were very narrow in acute-triangle shape, arranged in pairs. Because their bony plate fossils are incomplete, people speculate they had about 15 to 18 pairs. The sharp bony plates are our focus when restoring the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Limbs of Qichuan the Tuojiangosaurus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em> had short forelimbs and long hindlimbs. When restoring the limbs of Qichuan the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em>, the challenging part is the long and sharp spines on its shoulders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1612\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/6.png 1000w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/6-300x300.png 300w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/6-150x150.png 150w, http:\/\/www.pnso.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/6-768x768.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Tail of Qichuan the <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tail of <em>Tuojiangosaurus<\/em> was very long, with four tail spikes at the end. At present, we are not sure about the angle at which their tail spikes extend. Were they almost perpendicular to the ground like those of the early stegosaurians? Or almost parallel to the ground like the late stegosaurians?
