Who is Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus?


Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus was a marine reptile from the Ichthyosauria. It lived during the Triassic period. At that time, Guizhou, China, was a vast ocean filled with diverse marine reptiles.

How did ZHAO Chuang and YANG Yang create Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus?


The Size of Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus

According to scientific research on the fossils, the body length of Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus was set to 10 meters to scale down when we did the reconstruction.

The Head of Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus

Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus had a relatively short and flat head. Its eye sockets were large while its eyes were small. Its snout was triangular without teeth.

The Body of Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus

Yuanlin the Guanlingsaurus was enormous. It had a slender body and elongated flippers. It was considered one of the apex predators in the local waters. However, its massive size made it less agile compared to the smaller Qianichthyosaurus.
