Who is Austin the Pachycephalosaurus?
Austin the Pachycephalosaurus is a very peculiar herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the late Cretaceous period with fossils found in North America. It belongs to the Pachycephalosauria family and is recognized by the domed skull, which makes it like wearing a “helmet.” Among all the herbivorous dinosaurs, it was not big, but it had excellent eyesight, hearing, and smell. Coupled with its unique “helmet,” its defense ability was extremely powerful.

How did ZHAO Chuang and YANG Yang create Austin the Pachycephalosaurus?
The Size of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus
Austin the Pachycephalosaurus was about 4.5 meters long. Among all pachycephalosaurs, it was a large member, but its body was not particularly stout.

The Head of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus
The skull roof of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus was as thick as 25 centimeters, which can effectively protect its head. There were also bony knobs and spikes around this dome and on its cheeks. Different pachycephalosaurs possessed different ornaments atop their domes and along their cheeks. We designed unique ornaments for Austin based on the fossils.

The Neck of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus
The cervical vertebrae of Pachycephalosaurus were closely linked and tightly wrapped by muscles, so we restored the neck of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus to be relatively thick to present its ability to withstand the pressure of head impact.
The Limbs of Austin the Pachycephalosaurus
Austin the Pachycephalosaurus had short forelimbs and slender hindlimbs. We designed a bipedal walking posture for it in our restoration.
