In January 2023, PNSO Dinosaur Museum: The Chinese Dinosaurs series, scientific art books by ZHAO Chuang and YANG Yang, had Volume #5 to #8 officially published in Simplified Chinese. Same as the first published 1 to 4 volumes, volumes 5 to 8 are still compiled according to the locations where dinosaurs were discovered, leading readers into the world of Chinese dinosaurs. In terms of design, the four books still follow the PNSO Museum format, using 1-meter-long colorful fold-out pages to present great details.

Dinosaurs, ancient mysterious creatures, although most species have long since become extinct, are still loved by adults and children all over the world. They were born in the Late Triassic and lived on the earth for 160 million years. Most of them became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous. One branch that did survive has evolved into today’s birds and still lives with humans. Dinosaurs were not only numerous and diverse but also widely distributed. The vast China is the country with the largest number of dinosaur species in the world, and the number of dinosaurs that have been studied and named in China ranks first in the world now. Do you want to know about such a wide variety of dinosaurs? In this series of books, the unique girl Guanguan and her pet Little T. rex will lead us to different dinosaur fossil origins in China and explore the mysteries of Chinese dinosaurs together!

Title pages of The Chinese Dinosaurs

All works in this series come from the research results of “Darwin: An Art Project of Life Science” of “PNSO’s Scientific Art Projects Plan: Stories on Earth”. Mr. ZHAO Chuang, PNSO’s scientific artist, strictly follows available scientific evidence throughout his creation, by building his artistic framework based on fossils and scientific data. He restored skeletons, models, and ecological environment from fossils, to make these both scientifically rigorous and artistically creative. Based on the latest dinosaur research, Ms. YANG Yang, the science writer for children, vividly depicts the dinosaurs discovered in China. Which provinces were they located in China? Which carnivorous dinosaurs were there, and which herbivorous dinosaurs? Can any of them rival the famous Tyrannosaurus rex? How are they related to dinosaurs that lived in other regions? …Turn the pages and follow Guanguan to learn about these fantastic creatures. We do believe you will find the answers.
